Welcome to the Giga Guy Game Blog!

Welcome to the Giga Guy Game blog! Here, I will post updates of my current work in progress, Giga Guy, a simple Mega Man clone for PC. Any time I have something to upload, I will post it here, be it news, pictures, screen shots, possibly even playable builds. I hope to bring you the most enjoyable game that I can!

What is Giga Guy?
Giga Guy is a Mega Man clone (not quite a 'fan game', since Mega Man, nor any of the characters appear in this game). The same format is used: Pick a boss from a stage selection screen, fight your way to them, defeat them, gain their power, and move onto the next boss, hoping the weapon you've obtained will be something they are weak against.

Sooo... What's the difference from Mega Man?
Obvious things will be different; characters, story, controls (will be as close as possible, but due to the nature of the program being used to make the game, it won't be possible to get it perfect), level design and layout. Mega Man games have been lacklustre in story since the first, but it's understandable to see how, considering the age of the game. Regardless, one of my goals is to have levels tell stories of the bosses and world you're in, instead of being a simple path to a tough fight.

Why did you start this project?
Plain and simple; I love Mega Man games. Always have. Mega Man 2 was one of the first games I ever beat. I've always thought it would be fun to make a Mega Man game, either entirely, or just levels for one. With technology today, it's possible and easy to do so without intense programming knowledge. But, as much as I love Mega Man, I also realize it's a little silly at times. As such, I wanted to create a game that was both an homage and a spoof of Mega Man. Thus, Giga Guy was born. My ultimate goal is to create a Mega Man style game that has elements of Earthbound with it; that is, a mostly light hearted game on the surface, with some serious thematic undertones and symbolism you can only pick up if you read between the lines.

The project is ambitious, but I hope I can create something everyone can enjoy! Check back now and then for updates! And just to tide you over, a screenshot of the current build-in-progress!
